A presentation covering the Wood County Solar Project’s potential impacts on public health, safety and welfare will be hosted at the Town Hall at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4. The presentation is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. Kent Syverson of Syverson GeoConsulting, LLC, who was commissioned by the Town to review the project, will conduct the presentation and a subsequent Q & A session.
To be included in Mr. Syverson’s presentation are a review and assessment of the project in topic areas such as:
• Changes to surface water and groundwater conditions
• Use of chemicals at the site
• Impacts to wetlands
• Potential for dust generation
• Potential health and safety impacts of electrical power transmission
• Restoration of the site at the end of the project’s useful life
Mr. Syverson’s background includes work in sedimentology, hydrogeology and the geotechnical aspects of soils. He is a consultant and educator with broad experience in communicating science for all to understand.
