The Wood County Solar project in the Town of Saratoga has been approved by the Public Service Commission (PSC). The project is being purchased from the developer, Savion, by Alliant Energy. Alliant will construct and operate the project. Alliant will be taking on the obligations of the developer under the development agreement with the Town. (The developer agreement can be found under the ‘Project Documents’ link below). The Town will attempt to post new information about the project as it is received.
On April 6, the Town was informed that the site has officially been purchased, which is a big step in this process. On April 16, the site was permanently restricted from ever being used for agricultural purposes (see Restrictive Covenant Prohibiting Ag Use of Site under the Project Documents link below). Currently, Alliant is preparing a number of additional informational pieces required under the developer agreement. As those are received, they will be posted under the Project Documents link below. Trees are currently being cleared from the site. Please see the Project Maps link below for information on the area in which trees will be harvested.
There is also a Facebook page and project website managed by the developer that may provide additional information. Links to each of these are below. Local subcontractors and vendors interested in submitting information about their services are encouraged to send their contact details and experience to info@woodcountysolarproject.com. Also, as of May 27, project managers were seeking people to hire as project administrators during construction of the project and were looking for a company to provide security overnight and on weekends. If you have shared your information with Drew Gibbons, Mark Mauersberger, or Kim Griffin of the Wood County Solar Project development team previously, we have been told that it has been shared directly with the construction teams. For more information on the hiring plan for Wood County Solar Project, please see the project webpage below.
